Since April is Fair Housing Month, it’s a good time for real estate professionals to reexamine fair housing rules and the way in which you incorporate diversity into your real estate business.
Here are some resources to help you to accomplish that task.
I can only imagine how difficult it is to avoid inadvertently violating Fair Housing rules when you’re trying to help your clients. Here’s an interesting article on the right ways to answer questions clients have about choosing a neighborhood.
Do you know how to:
- Use demographic information to see how existing trends impact the real estate industry?
- Enhance your business and risk management by being sensitive to diversity issues?
- Communicate more effectively, and provide equal service to clients in their multicultural local markets?
- Apply and practice the One America Principles and fair housing laws.
- Build and expand the understanding of cultural differences.
- Work most effectively with people from different cultures.
- Incorporate diversity plans into your overall business plan?
If you’re not completely comfortable with all of those topics, you might want to obtain an At Home with Diversity (AHWD) Certification. If you work within a diverse community or within the International community, obtaining the AHWD certification will reinforce your commitment to diversity. And, during the month of April, you can take the course at half-price.
