It’s Our 5-Year Anniversary!
· CommentsWelcome to the new look of the BRER Blog!
While this blog was established in 2006, Build Real Estate Results with Getting It Write, Inc. has been in business since 2004. So, to celebrate our fifth anniversary, we’ve got a new look - new colors, an updated logo and an updated blog design. We’ll be updating our other two sites over the next few weeks.
I’ve discovered that after upgrading to WordPress 2.7, the images in the posts aren’t aligned properly. So, please bear with us. I’m not going back over the past three years’ worth of posts to get the images aligned properly!
Hope you like the new look!

Happy Holidays - 2008!

What are your Wishes at this Holiday Time?
I’m taking a few days off from blogging this week, so the blog will be back again next Monday, the 29th. Before I go, I want to wish all of you a very happy holiday season, and to ask: what are you wishing for in 2009?
Here’s part of my wish list:
** I wish for a solution to the economic issues we’re facing. Not a quick fix, but a long-lasting one as soon as we’re able.
** I wish our representatives in Congress would stop fighting with one another.
** I wish that the auto companies would survive, but I can’t imagine how they’ll be able to pull it off.
** I wish strength, peace and safety for our troops in harm’s way.
** I wish I knew how to play the piano.
** I wish Vista really worked.
** I wish people would learn how to drive. All of them.
** I wish I had a maid. Not full-time. I’d just love to have a completely clean house from time to time without having to do it myself.
** I wish for all of us to achieve peace, health, happiness and prosperity!
There are so many things I have to be grateful for, including the great new clients and associates I’ve met this year, and the “old” clients and associates I still have the opportunity to work with.
Whatever you’re celebrating at this time of year, I wish you

.
Thanksgiving 2008
· CommentsBecause I live in the South, it’s difficult for me to remember that Thanksgiving is here already.
I spent most of my life in Michigan, and “up North”, keeping track of the seasons is easy.
When it starts getting really cold - and you’ve seen at least a dusting of snow, if not a few feet - and the air is rich with the aroma from wood-burning fireplaces — you really experience the changing of the seasons.
On the other hand, I don’t miss snow tires - and taking my life in my hands going to work each day when the weather is bad and the roads exceptionally slippery - and the gray cap that can sit over cities in Michigan for weeks at a time.
So, I’m content here with our pretend winters, and I’m looking forward to the holiday season.
I have many things to be thankful for this year, not the least of which are the great clients I’ve had the opportunity to work with this year.
To all of you whom I’ve come to know personally, I thank you for your camaraderie, and for your business.
For everyone who reads this blog, I thank you for your interest, and I hope you find this blog useful.
I wish all of you a happy and peaceful Thanksgiving celebration!
Remember our military at the holidays! As you may know, there are many ways to show support for our military folks who give so much all year around. Two Internet-based opportunities:
- Send a postcard to someone in the military. Visit Let’s Say Thanks. Xerox Corporation has set up this website where you can select a postcard from among designs created by children all across the country, and personalize it with your own greeting. The postcards are then printed by Xerox and mailed in care packages sent to military personnel serving overseas by a military support organization, Give2TheTroops.
- Send an e-mail. Visit America Supports You.
And, please join me in a prayer to give our new leaders the wisdom and strength they will need in the years ahead.

Everyone has a different view of the individuals in the real estate industry. One thing I know for sure, however, is that when an agent’s real estate marketing efforts pay off, they show how much they care about the people in the communities they serve.
And, they don’t just care about the people buying and selling real estate - they care about everyone in the community, and
they’re really a very charitable bunch.![]()
For example, I have a number of clients who donate a portion of their real estate commission to their clients’ favorite charity. But, I wondered how concerned real estate companies and professionals are in general about helping those in need. I was impressed with what I found.
Doing a search on Google, I found a lot of articles and blog posts about individuals and companies lending a helping hand in their communities:
-
A Century 21 office in Michigan took a cue from Oprah Winfrey and started their own version of the Big Give.
-
A boy with a terminal disease had his wish fulfilled due to the donations area offices of Realty Executives made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Northern Illinois.
Then, I started to notice that a lot of the search results came from an agent’s real estate blog on ActiveRain, so I dropped in to see what was happening. I did a search for the word charity, and was going to use the results as examples in this post. Unfortunately, I was not entirely successful, but I have included a few below:
-
An office of ERA in New Jersey was collecting donations for the Make a Wish Foundation.
-
A husband/wife real estate team promoted their local charity Duck Race in South Carolina.
-
An agent in Michigan talked about the funds he was helping to raise for Habitat for Humanity.
-
One agent was even promoting an event that had something to do with Shaving Your Head for Charity!
Are you wondering why I didn’t list the charitable posts on ActiveRain? The reason is because the list is much much too long!!
There are 1000 posts that contain the word Charity, and 490 posts about Habitat for Humanity.
I know that there are going to be a lot of people participating in Blog Action Day who are faced with circumstances much worse than we have here in the U.S. But, when you think about what one person can do, just think about all of the real estate agents around the country that are doing whatever they can to help their clients — and their communities.
