If you read the post yesterday about the Tynt copy/paste software, you might have watched the video on Michael Russer’s website. That video stated that 2-5% of website visitors copy something from the site they’re visiting.
I didn’t really think about the impact of that. However, here’s what’s happened since I put the Tynt copy/paste software on on our main site at www.BuildRealEstateResults.com two days ago:
Nine things have been copied from 6 pages! And, I only did one of them.
So, maybe the stats Tynt quotes have a bigger impact than I thought. For the most part, I’m pleased to see the traffic, and I’m hoping that some of those copies have the links intact.
The Tynt reports will tell me if I get any incoming traffic based on the copies that have been made.
The only thing I’m not happy about is that someone copied the header from the site. What in the world would they do with that?!?!?
I shudder to think….

As a former high school English teacher, the one thing that is constantly stressed is the avoidance of plagiarism. When I started writing for the web, I was absolutely dumb-founded to the extent plagiarism is disregarded.
I blog for a realtor and I’m always searching for new ideas. This entails a lot of research before I actually write a post. Imagine how surprised I was to learn that PLR articles were just changing a few words around here or there to produce “new” content.
Software like this makes me “shudder”.

Hi Shelley – Thanks for stopping by! I agree – plagiarism on the Internet is out of control. I had someone in Florida copy a website I had created for a home stager in California. It looked like she just copied the code and used it to build a new website.
She was very angry that we asked her to take the site down. Since she was so far away, she didn’t think there would be a problem!!
It’s still stealing. My client had paid good money to have a custom site developed. Why someone else would think that because it’s on the Internet, it’s free for the taking… I just don’t get it.
