New Poll – Share Your Ideas on IDX Searches

Posted on Sep 15 2008 | By Kathleen · Comments (6)

Well, I finally got around to adding a new poll to the left-side column.

We’ve had some interesting results on a couple of real estate website issues.  If you want to look at past results, visit the Poll Archives page.

Real Estate Marketing PuzzleThis poll picks up on the topic of a couple of posts last week:  IDX MLS searches on real estate websites.

Take a minute to answer the poll – there are only 3 questions.  And, it will add your contribution to the knowledge base on this blog.

Your answers may make another person think about something differently, or try something new!

Thanks!

I taught a class to our Keller Williams office in Marble Falls yesterday (40 miles northwest of Austin) about the third party IDX vendor, WolfNet, that KW has set us all up with. The Board out there didn’t have much of a search feature. Once I showed the agents WolfNet and how they coould promote it at open houses and in other ways, they realized that they had something almost nobody else in the area had. It was one of those ah-ha moments.

Maybe you should write a guest post on promoting your IDX….

I voted. :D

On the last section in the RESULTS category: I think you are going to get BETTER leads if you don’t require registration.

But you probably will get MORE leads and MORE overall net business – if you do require registration, provided of course you follow up on all of the registrations/inquiries.

Thanks for your vote, Jennifer!

Registration is an ongoing (and heated!)debate. I thought it would be interesting to see how folks approach it.

The one thing I have certainly noticed is that sites that don’t have some form of home search don’t get many leads. It surprises me how many sites just have a contact number and nothing else. In Austin the board even provides a free search that taps into the Austin MLS. Its not great but its better than nothing.

Hello K,

Thanks for joining the conversation!

I’m surprised at how many sites I see that don’t have a phone number, email or address! Guess they’re going after the psychic visitor.

But, you’re right. Internet visitors LOVE to look at homes for sale! And, an MLS search is certainly an option just about everyone has.
