Should You Be Blogging?

I did a coaching session for Point2 Agent last week.  One of the questions was about the value of blogging.  Actually, the question was whether I had statistics about the impact of blogging for a real estate agent.

Achieve Real Estate SuccessI don’t have statistics.  But, one place to get some feedback from agents who are active bloggers is at The Real Estate Tomato.  Jim Cronin has published several interviews with bloggers, and this is the latest oneAt the bottom of that post, there are links to several others.

Blogging can be fun, but it is also a real commitment of time and energy.  I’m not sure that blogging is for everyone, and I don’t think you have to maintain a blog to have a successful website.

But, take a moment to read what other agents are saying about their blogging experience.  It will give you the opportunity to consider different perspectives.

It helps you better define the industy the market and feeds the soul with daily post. A benefit is leeds and friendships are formed and ideas and suggestions from comments are alway enlightening to see what people are doing and thinking. I do think it helps ranking and SEO efforts. I think it helps you be perceived as an expert in your community and people can read your blogs and learn more about you and business and style. Many people are into bloggin so this is not something new for them to look for this on a site they are considering working with. It is the wave of the future.

I am one of those who believes blogging is important to grow and market your business. I would compare it to a modern day Open House. An agent can be very successful and never hold a home open but…an agent can also generate leads and build a great amount of business by consistantly holding homes open. It is what works for you and how you choose to generate more leads. The Real Estate Tomato is a great site by the way.

Thanks for stopping by. I think it’s reasonable to take a hard look at the opportunities blogging provides because they are becoming more common all the time. And, I love the idea of an online open house – great illustration!
