Do you think your back really  hurts?   Or is it just because you recently saw a motivating commercial on television with just the thing to fix that aching back?

Some days, I think it must be difficult to tell.

Guess this post falls into the category of pet peeves.

I don’t remember exactly when the drug companies started promoting their products to consumers, but I really wonder whose idea that was, anyway?

Aren’t we already taking enough pills and potions for every minor malady?  And, isn’t it true that we’ve over-used antibiotics to such an extent that the bugs are wisely developing defences against them?

So, what happened to the concept of the doctor prescribing the medications?  When did it become acceptable to arm the patient with enough information to be dangerous – and probably to drive their doctors crazy?

I’ve been to my share of idiotic doctors, and as a result, I’ve become much more aggressive in managing my own health care.

But, really.  I think the consumer should pick their doctors wisely and leave the task of keeping up with the latest cures to those docs!
