Why do you focus on small business marketing?
Before establishing Getting It Write, I had over 20 years of experience in sales, marketing, and consulting. Early in my career, I worked for large corporations such as Xerox, Honeywell, and General Motors. I focused on implementing what were then emerging office technologies, such as computer-based word processing systems, internal e-mail systems, and personal computers.
At Deloitte & Touche, I established a business reengineering consulting practice, helping businesses streamline their operations before rushing to automation. I worked with companies of all sizes in diverse industries. In fact, I've probably worked in your industry at some point. I also held positions at BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee and Johns Hopkins Hospital as Director of Business Systems.
Then, I left the world of big business. I owned a small graphics firm for five years, combining skills in marketing communications and graphic design, to assist clients in fine-tuning their message and presenting it effectively.
So, I know how the big boys work. And, I find bringing that knowledge to the small business community very rewarding. My company does not suffer from red tape, and neither do my clients!

How did you become knowledgable about the real estate industry?
A friend of mine is a REALTOR®. One day we were discussing the personal marketing challenges she faces. It occurred to me that she should manage her marketing the same way a company manages its marketing. And, that she wasn't selling houses, she was running a consulting practice to help her clients make sound real estate decisions. So, I started researching the industry, reviewing the philosophies of industry experts and successful performers.
It became obvious that while those experts didn't explain it in the same terms, they were all in agreement that differentiation and Internet presence were key factors to success. A business can easily differentiate itself in the marketplace by making a unique product. REALTORS® all have the same inventory - the homes on the MLS. What differentiates a REALTOR® is who they are and the services they provide.
It's really a matter of applying sound marketing principles to the real estate industry. It was a natural fit because I've been an experienced marketer and consultant for years!

Why aren’t fees quoted on this website?
There are a couple reasons. First, no two clients have the same objectives. Our work together is usually a combination of several types of services.
We’d rather talk to you about what you want to accomplish, determine an approach for meeting that goal, then provide a fee estimate based on the specific work that needs to be completed. Very often, our initial telephone consultation will identify different solutions than the ones initially discussed.
Second, we don’t like working on an hourly basis. In my opinion, if an advisor knows what they’re doing, they can prepare a fee estimate based on the definition of a particular project. And, stick to it. This approach eliminates surprises. If the scope of a project changes, or new requirements are identified, we’ll discuss the impact on fees before the work commences.
Certainly there are times when only an hourly fee is reasonable, but we don’t do the majority of our work that way.

Yes. Here's the policy:
