Real Estate Results Newsletter
JUNE, 2006

Welcome to the June edition of the Real Estate Results Newsletter. In this month’s Newsletter:

Real Estate SEO and Link Building Update

SEO NEWS ICON02There have been a lot of changes in how Google evaluates link building strategies over the past few months. If you are a real estate webmaster who has a site that has been affected by these changes, you need to change how you obtain quality incoming links.

You’ve been affected if you’ve noticed that some of the pages of your website have been removed from Google’s index. This “deindexing” has happened particularly to sites that don’t have a lot original content, but do have link exchange pages.

To assist you in responding to these changes, we’re doing two things. First, we will be posting articles to explain the changes and what you can do about them in our real estate marketing blog. In particular, the posts can be found in the SEO and Link Building categories on the blog. The first article on this topic is already available for you to review.

The best way to respond to the changes Google has made is to increase the original content you have on your site, and to obtain incoming links that are not structured in the traditional link exchange format.

Your 180-Item Listing Agent To Do List

180 items?? Yup, that’s the number of tasks completed by a full-service listing agent, as identified by the Orlando Regional REALTOR® Association (ORRA). So, whether you’re a full-service agent or not, this list is a great starting point for gathering ammunition for your next listing presentation.

The Critical Role of the REALTOR® in the Real Estate Transaction is a PDF file that is posted on ORRA’s public website for consumers. Naturally, not all items in the list will apply in every state due to varying regulations. The list is copyrighted by ORRA, and you would need their permission if you wanted to post it to your website.

But, if you want to pump up your listing presentation, reviewing the list will remind you just why it is that marketing and selling a home takes skill, knowledge, and energy! It’s not a spectator sport, or something you should try at home (unrepresented).

Need a Good, Easy Blog?

If you haven’t set up a blog yet, you probably want to start thinking about it now. Establishing a blog is a great way to add original content to your website. However, not everyone has the ability to add a blog that is part of their existing real estate website. Keep in mind that if you have a website from Point2 Agent, you will have access to an integrated blog this fall.

You can still get a lot of benefit from a blog, even if it isn’t a part of your real estate website. Interlinking between your real estate site and your blog provides benefits to your visitors, and helps with SEO, too.

If you are looking for a place to host your blog, you might want to take a look at the real estate blogs sponsored by RealTown, which is backed by Internet Crusade. I created one of their blogs to see how easy it was to do, and I was impressed. Compared to what it takes to set up a Wordpress blog, for example, I’d say there’s no comparison.

And, these blogs are geared for the real estate industry. If you’re not sure what you’d do with a blog, check out some of the featured blogs on their sign-up page. Oh, by the way, there is no fee associated with setting up a RealTown blog!

Until next month...
