Welcome to the October edition of the newsletter! In this month’s newsletter:

When You Should Hire an AssistantWoman-Phone-Frazzled

If you’re doing everything yourself, from time to time, you must ask yourself if you should hire an assistant. If you’re asking yourself the question, it might be time.

You should hire an assistant when:

  • You are doing tasks that don’t require your expertise. If you traded the time you spend putting stamps on postcards for lead generation activities, how much more business would you generate?
  • You are busy all day long, but you haven’t accomplished much. This could indicate that you need to follow that old saying: work smarter, not harder.
  • You are missing opportunities. If you have to choose between two critical tasks like adding a new listing on your website or meeting with a new prospect, you probably need an assistant.
  • You know you need an assistant, but you’re waiting until you have the money to hire one. Just do it. It’s like having children - there’s never a perfect time.

There’s a great article from Hobbs Herder that addresses this issue. If you have a good way to tell when you need an assistant, send it to us. We’ll post the results.

Why You Need to Stay On Top of Technology

UseKeybdThink you can avoid technology in the real estate industry? It’s getting tougher all the time!

By now, probably everyone is familiar with the statistics about how home buyers are conducting their searches for a new home. According to CAR and NAR, at least 70% of home buyers use the Internet to start their search, and 78% of those people find their REALTOR® on the Internet!

You may also be aware of industry efforts to create technology standards in the real estate and mortgage industries. Those efforts have been around for a while now.

But, it looks like there is progress being made! Nothing will happen overnight, but we are moving closer to the time where there will be paperless real estate transactions. The good news is that increasing the use of technology should make the process more simple. If you’re not a technology buff, you may think that the bad news is that this simplicity will be driven by new technology. It may be time for you to get a lot more friendly with your computer!

Take a look at this article from Inman News, published by Top Producer.

How to Monitor the Health of Your Website

DoctorsThere are a variety of ways you can monitor the health of your website. We’re starting a new series of articles posted on our website to help you keep track of your website as quickly as possible.

The first article identifies several tools that will help you manage your real estate website and it’s visibility on the Internet. On this page, you’ll find tools that will quickly tell you whether the search engines are finding your website, and how many links to your website the search engines recognize. There are also a few tools that will tell you where your real estate website stands in the Search Engine Result Pages (SERPs). It’s much quicker to use these free Internet tools, as opposed to conducting all these searches yourself!

If you have specific questions, or if you want to know about ways to do a specific type of analysis, let us know. We’ll use your ideas as subjects for future articles.
